Also referred to as “Our Lady of the Snows,” this Papal major basilica is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It sits on a site where, as Catholic legend has it, snow fell in August. It has been renovated and expanded over centuries, but it still retains the core of its original structure from the 5th century. Inside, keep an eye out for the incredible mosaics from the same period.
